What is a TAF?
A TAF, or Terminal Aerodrome Forecast, describes expected weather near an aerodrome. It usually covers 24 to 30 hours and uses change groups such as TEMPO, BECMG, FM and PROB to show expected changes from the prevailing conditions.
It is longer and more complex than a METAR because it describes how the weather is expected to evolve, not only what is happening now.
